Meet Jessica, an 8 year old from Brawley CA, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) this past February. Last week, Jessica gave her Mom a letter she wrote to Santa Claus.
Dear Santa,
The only thing I want for Christmas this year is for you to take away my diabetes.
Thank you.
Jessica
While Santa may have a workshop full of elves at his disposal, they can not help fulfill Jessica's Christmas request but WE can.
As a member of the JDRF family, you have an opportunity to make a donation to support JDRF funded scientists who are working on preventing, better treating and curing T1D. Since 2008, funding for T1D research has been decreasing as a result of the economy but we can change this while supporting a little girl's request to Santa.
During this Season of Giving, we ask that you consider making a donation (of any amount big or small) in honor of little Jessica from Brawley CA.
The spirit of giving has already taken hold! Upon learning of Jessica's request, Dan McPherson from San Diego (pictured top left), whose son battled T1D for many years, generously agreed to match the first $2,000 of donations made in Jessica's honor.
Your donation today will be DOUBLED by Mr. McPherson!
Please also consider sharing Jessica's story with your friends, family business associates, posting this link on your facebook page, tweeting and blogging about this very special holiday request.
Thank you for your generous support and for passing along this request to others who may want to support T1D research.
We wish you and your family a very special holiday season.
Sean, Katherine, Alexis, Janette, Christine, Dana and Susan

12/19/2012 Thank you Mr. McPherson for your generosity in the name of your son. I, like Jessica, was diagnosed at an early age, 6, and have found my way to a healthy 48th year with T1. I've seen much progress and am hopeful for that cure we all seek. Merry Christmas! |
